Interaction 2023: Introducing the camp participants – 18th edition
The 18th edition of Interaction: Student Film Camp will take place from 6 to 23 August 2023, gathering fifteen film school students worldwide. Participants – students of directing, cinematography, editing, sound design, and production divided into 3 crews to shoot 3 short documentaries in Čačak, Užice, and Požega, under the mentorship of the Israeli documentary director, Efim Graboy.
More than 100 applications from 40 countries were submitted for the call for participation in the Camp. The members of the selection committee – alumni of the Interaction: Siham Hinavi (French-Moroccan director), Ivana Pejak (film editor from Serbia), and Benjamin Garay Wietig (documentary film director and cinematographer from Argentina) have selected 15 participants from 12 countries.
Films at this year’s Camp will be directed by Coralie H. Gourdon from French Polynesia, Bohao Liu from China and Yarden Malka Bonet from Israel, and filmed by students of cinematography Camilo Villamizar Plazas from Colombia, Jovana Berar from Serbia and Manas Krishna from India. Students from Germany Luisa Nawka, Argentinian Ignacio Banjol Leal, and Mariana von Seckendorff Assis from Brazil will participate as sound designers. The editing of the films will be signed by Tai Inbar from Israel, Pablo Biedma Nunez from Spain, and Nawas Ali Thiruvalloor from India. The production managers are film production students from Belgrade – Nikola Pavlović and Nikola Petrović, as well as Tara Milošević, a student from the Netherlands.
The screening of the films made during this year’s Camp will be held on 22 August in the Cultural Centre of Čačak. The day after, the films will be shown in the Belgrade Cultural Centre Movie Theatre.
This year’s Interaction will be realized as part of the Capital of Culture of Serbia – Čačanska Rodna, and in addition to the Camp, it includes the Short Docs Festival (2nd edition), the Doc Workshop (11th edition), the IVA.lab (7th edition) and the Teen Doc Workshop.
The Interaction 2023 is organized by the Independent Film Centre Filmart, with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Serbia, the Film Centre of Serbia, the City of Čačak, Western Balkan Fund, Cinnamon Films, and other partners and sponsors.
