Program of the Interaction Festival in Užice Presented
Today, in the Ceremonial Hall of the City Hall in Užice, the program of this year’s Interaction Festival was presented at a press conference. On this occasion, the journalists were addressed by Branislav Mitrović, coordinator and manager of the Užice – Capital of Culture of Serbia 2024 project, Filip Baralić, director of the Užice City Cultural Center, Slađana Petrović Varagić, executive director of Interaction, and Dejan Petrović, the festival’s artistic director.
Branislav Mitrović announced a rich August program for the Capital of Culture and expressed satisfaction that Užice will host Interaction. Filip Baralić emphasized that Interaction gathers about 100 documentary filmmakers from more than 30 countries, highlighting the significance of this event for the city.
The festival program includes the 19th edition of the Student Film Camp, the 3rd edition of the Short Documentary Film Festival, the Doc Workshop, the Teen Doc Workshop, the Meet2Talk program, and a new program, XR Interaction – Co-creating the Future.
Dejan Petrović particularly emphasized the competitive program with 15 short documentaries, selected by himself and the program advisor Andrew Mohsen, an Egyptian film critic and programmer of numerous festivals.
Additionally, within the two non-competitive programs – In Focus and Interscreen, selected short documentary films will be screened. The In Focus program was curated by guest selector Nadica Denić, a film researcher from Amsterdam and a longtime advisor to IDFA festival programmers, while the Interscreen program traditionally presents selected films by participants of the Camp and Workshop.
Festival screenings will be held from August 20 to 26 in Užice, Požega, and Čačak. The award for the best film, provided by Sirogojno Company, will be presented at the closing ceremony on August 26 in Užice. The complete program of this year’s festival can be found HERE.
