Interscreen Selection: Within Reach of the Answer

Interaction – Short Docs Festival was launched in 2022 within the international production, educational and programme platform Interaction, and this year it offers a set of carefully selected films divided into three categories: the competition programme, In Focus programme and Interscreen programme.

The non-competitive Interscreen selection is comprised of Interaction Camp and Workshop participants’ selected documentaries: the films in question are the four achievements that are, with their different expressions, themes and geographical origins, a testament to the creative power of the contemporary production on an international level.

I Still Don’t Know, by the Croatian author Bela Bračko-Milešević, observes where home is and what it means in a poetically-contemplative manner. Placed over static shots, the director’s voice-over wonders: is home a place we come from or a place where we are happy?

Damian Kosowski from Poland presents Symmetry – a documentary parable made up of silence and faint noises. As if in an enchanted place, seven million handcrafted animals reside in a research station on the edge of the woods.

Using his family photo-archive in the film Moushumi, the director Debashis Das is trying to retain the memory of his sister. Black-and-white reminiscences, conversations with parents and the blurring of spatial and temporal coordinates all lead to the discovery of the nature of loneliness and detachment.

In the film The Things I Have Never Told You, the director Xun Yuan paints a portrait of the young Chinese girl Xinyi in a foreign city, far from her family and clear identity boundaries. Through the juxtaposition of Xinyi’s stand-up performances in Lisbon bars and her internal turmoil, the author shines a light on one of today’s primary problems – the problem of belonging.

The third edition of the Interaction Festival will be held from the 20th until the 26th August in Užice, in the Summer Garden of the City Cultural Center. Along with the audience in this year’s Cultural Capital – Užice, the audience in Požega and Čačak will be able to watch the festival’s programme in the period between the 21st and the 25th of August in the SKC Požega Cinema and the Cultural Center of Čačak.
