A key figure in the European animation industry, Amsterdam and Budapest-based Tünde Vollenbroek lives and breathes animation. For the last decade she’s been active in the field as a co-owner and producer at animation house Studio Pupil, where she’s wrapping up her last two productions, in order to concentrate on her career as director-writer-storyboard artist. The studio is a two-time recipient of the Business Award from the Animation Production Day, for innovative business strategies.

Tünde is currently in development with her self-directed short animated documentary (about workplace flirting) and feature-length animated film (a girl-meets-girl romcom), and a true crime feature-length animated documentary directed by New York-based Elle Kamihira (about coercive control). She’s also writing and drawing two graphic novels, I Like You (Oh Shit) to be released in 2024 and Everything Inside Me in 2025, both based on true life stories.

Previously, Tünde served on the boards of the European Animation Awards and the Dutch Academy for Film, and worked as head of programming at the KLIK (now Kaboom) Animation Festival and European correspondent at Cartoon Brew. She headed Dutch trade missions through the U.S. and Western Europe, and is a frequently asked jury and selection committee member (a.o. Zagreb, Fantoche and Playgrounds).
