SIHAM HINAWI, FRANCE / MOROCCO

Siham Hinawi, aka Sissi, is a French-Moroccan director and screenwriter whose college short films (from INSAS film school, Belgium) have been selected and awarded in numerous international festivals.
Her documentary The Ship of Gold, a portrait of a tormented priest in Montreal, was selected for the Oscar-qualifying Rhode Island International Film Festival and given the Jury Prize in the Festival International du Film de Rennes. Her graduation film “Unf*ckable” adds up to several important official selections, including the FIAPF-accredited PÖFF Shorts, the BAFTA-qualifying Aesthetica Short Film Festival, and the São Paulo International Short Film Festival.
Since her college graduation, she’s been developing her first long-feature fiction film, which tackles the issue of islamophobia in France. On the documentary side, she’s currently shooting an environmental activist film. A 2018 Interaction alumna, and 2019 Interdoc, she’s been visiting Serbia repeatedly since then, both for professional and personal reasons, as Serbia is now a huge part of her life.
