With a Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree in Motion Picture from ADFA School of Motion Picture and Live Performance in South Africa, Rratsheko has embarked on a remarkable journey, leaving an indelible mark in the world of cinema.
Rratsheko’s journey is studded with notable achievements and milestones. A testament to his talent, he was handpicked to participate in the prestigious 9th International Documentary Master Class – INTERDOC – held in Pozega, Serbia. He participated in the FESPACO Pan-African Cinema Documentary Competition, where he showcased his cinematic brilliance to audiences across continents. He is a founding member of Inter-Creative Mobile Hub – Domestic Filmmaking, along with Rebotile Medi.
His accolades include platforms such as the Tembisa Community Documentary Film Festival and the Basha Uhuru Creative Pitch, where his vision and creativity garnered widespread acclaim. Moreover, Rratsheko’s collaboration with the Mashariki African Film Festival stands as a testament to his commitment to fostering cinematic excellence across Africa.
As a humble yet visionary filmmaker, Rratsheko draws inspiration from the rich tapestry of life, seamlessly blending rural and urban narratives to craft compelling stories. His body of work reflects a profound understanding of human experiences, with a particular focus on exploring the lives of individuals with disabilities – a journey that has instilled in him the values of reflection, self-healing, and forgiveness.
His distinctive documentary filmmaking style is deeply inspired by his childhood, shaped by the agricultural landscape of Vaalboschloot Village. Growing up surrounded by farming and livestock, he absorbed the rhythms and stories of rural life—elements that now form the foundation of his creative voice.
