As an author, producer, editor, actor, and film crew member, he worked on many independent, low-budget short films from 1994 to 2000. He is one of the organizers of the Yugoslav Cheap Film Festival in Subotica. He served as the selector of the Palić European Film Festival from 2004 until the end of 2017. Additionally, he was the selector of the Author’s Film program at the Skopje Film Festival (2007-2009). He founded the Eurocinema cinema at the Open University d.o.o. in Subotica, where he worked as a manager and program editor. From 2013 to 2016, he was the selector of the Le Meute program at the L’Europe autour de l’Europe festival in Paris. In 2017 he established the film production and distribution agency No Wave Films. Petar moderated masterclass lectures by some of the most essential filmmakers at the Beldocs Film Festival and Belgrade Author Film Festival. Moreover, he served as a jury member of the film festivals Crossing Europe, Seville European Film Festival, Quinzaine des Realisateurs – Cannes, and others both in the country and abroad. Since 2021, he has been involved in acquisitions for the British company Taskovski Films Ltd, dedicated to the worldwide distribution of creative documentary films.
