Misus Ricalde (b. 19992) is a filmmaker from Sinaloa, Mexico. Her feature documentary La Divina Providencia won the IMCINE development fund. She has directed the VR short film Whispers of the frontier, commissioned by the UN, and the experimental short film Siniestra, both of which have been screened at various international festivals. She has been selected for IDFA’s DocLab Academy, DocsLab MX of the DocsMX International Documentary Film Festival and Zanate Residency of the Zanate Documentary Film Festival. In her work, Ricalde likes to merge experimental and socio-documentary themes around philosophy, mysticism, gender and social identity in complex political contexts with different platforms such as film, photography, archival footage, lo-fi materials and new media.
