Katerina Konradova is a young aspiring director from the Czech Republic. She is now studying in her third year at the Documentary Directing Department at FAMU, Prague. She had previously studied Comparative Literature and Arabic at Haverford College, USA, where she moved at the age of 19 and first got to try and make a documentary short under the guidance of filmmaker Vicky Funari. After moving back home, she realized not only that she wanted to pursue film, but, most importantly, that she wanted to invest herself into her home region of Central Europe. She prefers to search for alternative approaches to film and does not shy away from making fiction films either. In her work, she tends to play with visuality and use film as a language for exploring philosophical questions hidden behind people’s stories. She is now working on a short film about the destruction of the environment, fish, and the human fear of sickness and contamination.
