Brett Allen Smith is a filmmaker and journalist most recently covering conflict zones in Iraq, Israel and Palestine. His films have screened in over 80 international festivals and museum exhibitions including DOK Leipzig, SXSW, Millennium Docs Against Gravity and the Philadelphia MoCA. His debut feature, NEVER, was produced by Outlaw Productions (SEX, LIES, AND VIDEOTAPE) and released in cinemas across North America in 2016. The following year he co-directed the TV documentary feature THREE BOYS for RTL, Germany’s largest public broadcaster. Brett has made films under the guidance of some of cinema’s leading contemporary auteurs, including Werner Herzog and Apichatpong Weerasethakul. In 2024 he was awarded an Artist’s Residency by the Ingmar Bergman Estate on Fårö Island.
