INCLUSION IN FOCUS – XR EXHIBITION AND LECTURE AT THE INTERACTION FESTIVAL
This year, the Interaction Festival presents the second edition of the XR exhibition, focusing on the use of virtual reality in contemporary artistic practices and its role in advancing inclusion. The exhibition “XR Interaction Without Limits”, supported by the British Council, will take place from August 20th to 25th at the Art Gallery “Milan Tucović” in Požega (Cultural Centre Požega). The exhibition, curated by Georgy Molodtsov, an internationally recognized VR expert, presents a carefully selected showcase of eight XR works from the United Kingdom, France, Russia, Poland, Argentina, and Serbia that explore the lives and experiences of people with disabilities. Visitors will have the opportunity to see works that have been awarded at prestigious festivals such as the Venice Film Festival, BFI London, IDFA, SXSW, and Sundance. Alongside the exhibition, as part of the Talks program, a lecture titled “Virtual Reality and Inclusion: Empowering People with Disabilities Through Contemporary Artistic Practices”
will be delivered by professor and multimedia artist Predrag Terzić (August 21).
This year’s XR program of the Interakcija festival highlights the transformative potential of virtual reality in enhancing the inclusion of people with disabilities and uncovering new horizons of artistic practices that challenge the way we perceive the world.
The XR exhibition and lecture will be realized as part of the project “XR Interaction Without Limits,” organized by the Independent Film Center Filmart in collaboration with partners Art Without Limit from Prishtina and Planet-M from Skopje. XR – Interaction Without Limits makes part of the Culture and Creativity for the Western Balkans (CC4WBs) project. CC4WBs is funded by the European Union that aims to foster dialogue in the Western Balkans by enhancing the cultural and creative sectors for increased socio-economic impact.
