INTERACTION CELEBRATES A JUBILEE!

Two decades of creative encounters

The camp that over the past two decades has become a symbol of creative encounters and documentary filmmaking – Interaction: International Student Film Camp – is celebrating its 20th edition this year. Since 2006, the camp, organized by the Independent Film Centre Filmart from Požega, has hosted 304 participants from 64 countries. Over the past two decades, 62 short documentary films have been made at the Camp.

As part of this unique programme, film students from all over the world come to Serbia to create films within our communities (Požega, Čačak, Užice), highlighting authentic local stories. Today, Interaction represents an international production, educational, and programme platform dedicated to short documentary film, bringing together and connecting film school students, prominent documentarians, renowned lecturers from various parts of the world, XR authors, as well as teenagers from the Western Balkans who are just entering the film world. At the same time, Interaction contributes to the decentralization of culture, international cooperation, intercultural dialogue, and also encourages sustainable local development and enhances the tourism potential of Požega and the surrounding areas.

On the occasion of this significant anniversary, the Independent Film Centre Filmart has launched a crowdfunding campaign via the platform donacije.rs, under the name “Support the 20th Edition of Interaction – the International Student Film Camp in Požega.” Support from the community, friends, partners, and documentary film lovers will make it possible once again this year to provide young authors from Serbia and abroad with a unique creative and educational experience – and to give local communities a chance to have their stories, transformed into documentary films, reach the world.

This year’s jubilee 20th edition will be held from August 9 to 25, 2025. Fifteen students of film academies from all over the world will come to Požega, Užice, and Čačak to work on new documentary films in multinational crews. At the same time, during the second phase of the Camp, from August 19 to 25, the 4th edition of Interaction: Short Documentary Film Festival will take place, as well as the 13th edition of the Interaction: Doc Workshop, the 4th regional Interaction: Teen Doc workshop, the XR exhibition “Interaction Without Limits”, and other programmes.

Interaction endures thanks to people and stories that connect us – beyond divisions and prejudice. For two decades now, Interaction has been building a community based on trust, love for film, collaborative creation, and genuine encounters. This jubilee does not belong to Filmart alone as the organizer – but to everyone who believed in the power of documentary film.
