Participants of This Year’s Interaction Student Film Camp Announced
Fifteen young filmmakers will develop and shoot their documentaries
This year’s Interaction, like previous years, begins with the arrival of fifteen participants of the Student Film Camp, who will, from August 10th to 26th, shoot three short documentaries in Užice, Požega, and Čačak on the topic Vanishing Footprints.
The selection committee, composed of former Camp participants – Antonio Pozojević (Croatia), Anthony Mizzi (Malta), Coralie H. Gourdon (French Polynesia) – reviewed more than 160 applications and selected fifteen film academy students who, in the previous months, attended online lectures and started researching their projects. This year’s Interaction Camp participants are: Andrei Tache-Codreanu (Romania), Debashis Das (Bangladesh), Damian Kosowski (Poland), Jake Bellew (USA), Zofia Połaniewicz (Poland), Platon Ogarev (Russia), Elina Kengsepp (Estonia), Daniel Morawitz (Austria), Kait Harlow (USA), Imogen Cowan (United Kingdom), Boris Milevski (Serbia), Samonjoy Bhattacharya (India), Klara Jovanov (Croatia), Filip Antić (Serbia), and Nenad Pržulj (Serbia).
During their stay at the Camp, from August 10th to 26th, participants will continue researching their projects, then proceed to shoot and finally edit their documentaries.
The selected participants will work under the mentorship of Efim Graboy, an Israeli director, and the films will have their pre-premiere on August 26th at the closing ceremony of the Interaction Festival in Užice, and traditionally the day after in the Hall of the Cultural Center of Belgrade.
This year’s Camp participants – students of directing, cinematography, editing, sound design, and production – had the opportunity to attend online lectures over the past two months by award-winning documentary filmmakers from the USA: Jamie Meltzer, a professor at Stanford University, and Chris Filippone, whose documentary Huntsville Station, co-directed with Professor Meltzer, premiered at the Berlinale Festival. Additionally, Meghanne Barker, an anthropologist and lecturer at UCL – Institute of Education in London, and Uroš Živković, the program director of Returning Point, shared their experiences on circular migration with the Camp participants.
