Shalini Sharma is an Associate Professor at IISER Pune and former head of its Science Media Centre. Her PhD from SOAS (Felix Fellow) and postdoctoral research at Princeton and UEA have shaped her work across disaster studies, environmental justice, and science communication.

She was involved in setting up the Remember Bhopal Museum, produced over 60 oral histories on climate activism in India, and co-leads AQUAMUSE—a Dutch-funded project weaving documentary and museum-making across three river basins. She contributed to the IPCC’s AR6 on cities and settlements.  

A recipient of IISER Pune’s Excellence in Teaching Award and UNESCO climate education training, she now seeks to deepen her visual language. For her, documentary is applied humanities—a tool for memory, adaptation, and justice.
