Swiss-based Kurdish director Perihan Incegöz began by studying nursing in 2009, which gave her invaluable experience and a singular outlook on life. In 2012, she developed a deep passion for cinema and enrolled at the School of Cinema and Television of Quebec (ECTQ), from which she graduated in 2013. Fascinated by the themes of childhood and adolescence, she focuses her work on the moments that form the passage to adulthood. She directed “Gernis On The Sidelines”, a short film about a team of young female soccer players.

Her first feature film, “L’Île de Sukwan,” was presented at the RIDM-RENCONTRES INTERNATIONALES DU DOCUMENTAIRE DE MONTRÉAL (2022) and distributed in Canadian cinemas. The film is currently touring international festivals such as DOC-Cévennes and Shanghai IFF and recently won the First Film Prize at FIDADOC (2023).
