Almira Ismailova, KAZAKHSTAN
director, playwriter, and screenwriter

contact: almisk888@gmail.com

She is a director, playwright, and screenwriter from Kazakhstan. For most of her career as a professional filmmaker, Almira has been making other people’s ideas come true within the rigid society of the commercial industry. But the idea of making an honest, creative documentary took possession of her. This intention resulted in the debut film “Burning land”. As the playwright, Almira bravely plunges into the space of non-fiction and explores the chaos of intuitive structure. She believes that the development of arts is possible through the creation of professional communities. This idea led her to curate the Drama.KZ theatre festival and take part in the attempt of creation of the documentary filmmakers’ union in Kazakhstan.
