Sachu James is a filmmaker from Wayanad, India, currently enrolled in the Kino Eyes Master’s programme. Growing up in a Catholic family and surrounded by Indigenous Eastern traditions, he struggled with his identity and began making images as a way of understanding his inner conflicts. His work explores experiences of belonging and displacement and draws on personal experiences of family and healing. Films such as Kanavu and Sleep, My Dear Son examine these questions. Over the past two years, he has worked on films in India, Lisbon, Tallinn and Edinburgh.
