The Flowers Stand Silently, Witnessingwins Short Film Conference’s annual Short of the Year 2025

UK documentary The Flowers Stand Silently, Witnessing, directed by Theo Panagopoulos, won the Short Film Conference’s annual Short of the Year. The prize was presented during the 48th Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival.

This essay-documentary, which, through archival footage, reflects on the systematic erasure of Palestinian history, continues its notable festival journey. Following its premiere in Edinburgh, the film has received awards at festivals including IDFA and Sundance.

The Flowers Stand Silently, Witnessing also received a Special Mention at last year’s Interaction: Short Docs Festival, which subsequently nominated the film for the Short Film Conference’s annual award.

Founded in 1970, the Short Film Conference is an international network bringing together more than 100 members from over 40 countries − including festivals, institutions, film markets, and media organizations dedicated to the development and promotion of short film. Since September 2025, the Interaction: Short Docs Festival has been a member of this organization.
